Bobrisky pleads guilty to money laundering

Controversial Nigerian crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, on Friday, pleaded guilty to a four-count charge of mutilation of the naira and money laundering at a Lagos court.

He was originally arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) on Wednesday on a six-count charge, but two charges were dropped following a discussion between the parties.

It was reported on Thursday that Bobrisky was picked up by operatives of the EFCC at Pinnock Estate in Lagos state.

Agency Spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, in a statement on Thursday, April 4 confirmed the arrest and promised to issue an official statement regarding the development.

He said; “Bobrisky is with us. He was arrested last night in Lagos, and he is at our Lagos command. We arrested him for alleged abuse of naira notes, spraying of nara notes, and currency mutilation, among others.

“We are very serious about restoring the dignity of the naira. Though our investigation is still ongoing, but he will definitely be charged to court soon.”
