Bishop Feyi: Church members allege frame-up, say life imprisonment will be overturned

Some members of the iReign Christian Ministry, Lagos, have opined that the conviction of its founder, Bishop Feyi Daniels, for rape, is likely the result of a frame job.

The cleric was sentenced to life imprisonment on Friday by an Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court for raping a church member.

The trial judge, Rahman Oshodi found Daniels guilty of rape and sexual assault of a female worshipper for which he also bagged 3 years imprisonment

Both sentences are to run concurrently. His name will be registered in the Sexual Offenders Register as maintained by Lagos State.

Although the pastor pleaded not guilty, the applicant led in evidence by Lagos State counsel, Babajide Boye, said the bishop, whom she regarded as her spiritual father, raped her at his residence in Ikota Villa Estate, Lekki, Lagos on June 21, 2020.

However, while reacting to the sentence, some church members said Bishop Daniels was being victimised because of his political affiliation and that his imprisonment would not stop the work of God.

One Mrs Peace, claiming to be a leader in the evangelism and welfare unit, said; “I know my pastor. He will overcome. He has been a staunch attacker of this government and they are victimising him.

Our God is not asleep. In this month of our fasting, we will not stop praying for him even while in captivity. All because he gave a prophecy that did not go down well in the eyes of the Tinubu APC government. Make una continue.”

A church member known on Twitter as @IkeokwuChidozie, wrote; “There is a war against the church and it’s coming from the inside.

Another member, Mrs Omopariola, said; “Pastor cannot do that kind of thing. I have worshipped in that church for five years. Where is the evidence? Was there a hidden camera? This year is our year of abundance and this month is our month of answered prayers. I know this is not the end. God will intervene.”

@CheezyCharles, said; “Life imprisonment ke? What’s the proof? Abeg, he should go and appeal this nonsense!

@Nosafk wrote; “The day your prophecy doesn’t favour them, they will come and arrest you for one thing or the other. Every opportunity is good to silence those who will call them out to be accountable.
