Benin Republic changed the name of a beach because of me – Mr Eazi

Nigerian singer, Oluwatosin Ajibade, popularly known as Mr Eazi, has revealed that he inspired the government of Benin Republic to change the name of a beach in Cotonou.

The Banku pioneer said he’s been living in Cotonou for most part of this year and he is also recording his next album in the French-speaking nation’s capital.

Mr Eazi, who was speaking in an interview on Cool FM, recounted how he often visited a beach, but he did not like the idea of the place being calm.

The singer said he started visiting the place around March and he changed how things operated in the place.

He said the people were not hyped about the entertainment a Disc Jockey was dishing out, so he decided to switch up the tempo.

The Skin Tight crooner said that he started performing at the beach club regularly and was able to get people to visit every weekend.

He used to invite people to come watch him perform and in the course of the promotions, he referred to the place as Beninbiza (Benin Ibiza).

The name became popular amongst locals, so the authorities decided to officially rename the beach ‘Beninbiza’.

Mr Eazi said he popularized the beach club shows and it spread across different fun hubs in the country. He said the biggest rave happened in Kigali and it 6,900 people attended the show.

In other entertainment news, dancehall star, Shatta Wale has said that Afrobeats megastar, Burna Boy is his brother, but he is ill-informed about certain things.

The Ghanaian singer stated this while being interviewed on Class ShowBiz about plans to move forward with their friendship after ending their rift.

On the upcoming Afrochella, Shatta was asked if he would be performing his song, Hossana which features Burna Boy, and he said that for now everybody will stay in their lane.

He said the reason the ‘Common Person’ crooner started beefing him was because he listened to a group of people who left his team and started bad mouthing him.

Shatta Wale reiterated that the African Giant will always be his brother and he cannot do any anything other than to be supportive.

He also addressed the issue his new song sounding similar to Burna Boy’s Last Last, using a family analogy about how siblings have similarities which is why their songs sound alike.
