Bella Shmurda explains why he stopped smoking weed

Popular Nigerian singer, Akinbiyi Abiola Ahmed better known as Bella Shmurda has revealed that he quit smoking weed due to anxiety.

The ‘Cash App’ crooner explained this in the latest episode of ‘In My Opinion’ podcast, noting that he still smokes cigarettes.

Bella Shmurda said that he stopped smoking marijuana commonly known as weed, four years ago because he was scared of the future.

Shmurda said: “I don’t smoke igbo [weed]. I used to but I started having anxieties smoking weed. I started getting scared of the future. So, four years ago, I stopped smoking weed. I just take cigarettes and liquor.”

He said contrary to claims that smoking weed boosts creativity, it did not help him in terms of mastering the art of music making.

The singer said; “It wasn’t helping the creativity in my case. Everything I was doing when I was smoking weed, I was having anxieties. At a point, it was affecting me in the studio. I would just be lost in the middle. It wasn’t working anymore. I just have to stop. That was earlier in my career. It wasn’t helping.”

Meanwhile, CorrectNG recalls ghetto dancehall star, Terry G announced few months ago that he was marking 100 days without smoking.

The singer shared a video of himself and captioned the post; “100 Day Of No 0 🚭💨 I look like Metro too much?”

In the footage, which however, had smoke in the air, he said; “Day 100 of no smoking. Make una thank God for me. This is my day 100 of no smoking.”

Popular R&B/Soul singer, Chibuzor Oji, better known as Faze, says he has never drank alcohol, smoked any type of illicit substances or taken hard drugs.

The veteran artiste, who was part of the defunct Plantashun Boiz, made the revelation during a recent interview, adding that he drinks a lot of water to stay hydrated and healthy.

Faze said a healthy lifestyle was responsible for the longevity of his melodious singing voice and physical well-being generally as he prioritises his health.

The 46-yr-old said; “I don’t do anything special to maintain my voice. I think it has to do with my lifestyle. I don’t take drugs and I’ve never drank alcohol or smoked in my life. It has to do with health too. I’m the kind of person that likes to check up on my health.”
