Barcelona woo Man Utd’s Mason Greenwood with Messi’s No10 shirt

Barcelona are ready to offer Manchester United star, Mason Greenwood their iconic No.10 shirt, according to UK Sun.

The club wants to use the shirt which Lionel Messi wore during his era at Camp Nou, to lure Greenwood as part of a £40million summer transfer swoop.

The 22-year-old left United to join Getafe on loan on the last day of the summer transfer window and he’s been catching the eye in Spanish football.

Before then, Greenwood had not played for the Red Devils since he was arrested in January 2022 for attempted rape, controlling behaviour and assault.

The charges against Greenwood were dropped in February, but the Red Devils decided that the player needed to rebuild his career away from Old Trafford.

Since arriving at Getafe, Greenwood has scored three goals and provided four assists in 14 LaLiga appearances.

Barcelona have been closely monitoring Greenwood’s performances and are preparing to offer £40 million for him next summer. As a major incentive, Barca are willing to offer Greenwood their iconic No.10 shirt.

Napoli forward, Victor Osimhen, has explained why he chose to reject the offer from Saudi Arabia despite knowing it ‘would’ve changed his life’.

Speaking with John Obi Mikel on the ‘Obi One Podcast’, he said it was a tough choice but he had two other clubs in mind.

Mikel had urged Osimhen to move to Chelsea next summer, as he said the club was deperately looking for someone like him.

“Next season I know you will come to Chelsea man! I tell you, I will be the agent who will broker that deal. I will make sure it happens. We are desperate for someone like you since Drogba left the club,” he said.

In response, the 24-year-old said; “I don’t have a favourite Premier League club, but I have two shirts, Chelsea and Manchester United. Many of my friends are Chelsea fans, a few Man United. The Premier League is the most popular league for any African player, it’s a great league”.
