Ayra Starr excited as The Recording Academy considers her song for Grammy

The Recording Academy, organizers of the prestigious Grammy Awards are considering nominating Nigerian singer, Sarah Aderibigbe popularly known as Ayra Starr, in the 2023 edition.

The artiste revealed via her Twitter (X) handle on Wednesday, October 11, that her hit song ‘Rush’ is under consideration for nomination for the 66th Annual Grammy Awards.

Ayra Starr’s ‘Rush’ is off her debut album, ’19 & Dangerous’ which was released in 2021.

The elated singer acknowledged those who worked with her on the project and thanked them for their contributions

Ayra wrote; “I am excited and honored that my song “Rush” off my debut album 19&Dangerious deluxe is being considered for this year’s #GRAMMY Awards!

Meanwhile, according to American music statistics company Chart Data, a total of 122 songs have been submitted for consideration for nomination in the newly created “Best African Performance” category.

“122 songs were submitted for Best African Performance consideration at this year’s #GRAMMYs. 2024 will mark the first show the award will be presented.”
