Assassination plot may scuttle Tinubu’s inauguration – Primate Olabayo

Founder of the Evangelical Church of Yahweh Worldwide, Primate Theophilus Olabayo has raised an alarm over purported plans to scuttle the inauguration of President-elect, Bola Tinubu on May 29.

He expressed worry while addressing journalists on Tuesday in Abuja as he warned politicians against flaming post-election violence.

The cleric, who assured that there will be no war, however, revealed his vision about political assassination amongst the politicians which he said would come with grave consequences if they don’t de-escalate the tension.

He further discouraged hate speeches and appealed to politicians as well as supporters to watch their utterances.

“Some people are planning to create chaos and unrest. They really do not want a transition of power to Asiwaju and that is why they are trying to form an interim government. If they succeed, it will take the nation backward and there will be grave consequences.

“However, I see him (Tinubu) being sworn in as the president. Though, as I said earlier, there are people who don’t want this to happen.

“Politicians need to be careful about their utterances. Hate speech should not be encouraged. Though, I foresee political assassination amongst the politicians, as some people try to create chaos that will lead to civil unrest,” Olabayo said.

The clergyman also advised President Muhammadu Buhari to do all he can to ensure a hitch-free transfer of power on May 29.

“There was a peaceful transition of power from President Goodluck Jonathan to him. He should also ensure a peaceful transition of power to the president-elect.

“The incoming government should restructure this country to some extent so that the nation will experience economic growth and social stability in the near future,” he added.
