An uncle sexually harassed me as a teenager – Actress Tope Osoba (Video)

Nigerian Actress, Temitope Osoba has recalled the childhood trauma she suffered when one of her uncles subjected her to sexual harassment.

She opened up on how growing up with relatives was filled with very devastating experiences, from being arrested by her grandmother to being harassed.

Speaking in an interview with Biola Bayo on her Talkshow, ‘Talk to B‘, Temitope explained that things became worse her uncle started making advances towards her.

The actress also spoke about her recent battle with depression because it was hard to survive as she was not getting called for work.

Temitope said; “My grandmother came one day and arrested me, so I decided not to stay with her anymore. So I started living with my uncle and he started making some advances towards me, trying to harass me sexually. And I told myself, I couldn’t go through this again.

“I suffered from depression after things became difficult for me, I couldn’t meet my needs because people are not calling me for work. I stopped functioning, I no longer take my bath, I can’t eat, brush and all.”

Popular Nigerian actress, Mercy Aigbe, has revealed that she almost dumped Nollywood after she became a victim of sexual harassment.

During an interview, she said a producer she approached to help her get into the movie industry tried to take advantage of her. The thespian said she said he initially handed her a minor role for her after she passed auditions for his movie, but she protested.

According to Aigbe, the producer invited her to his office and that was where he sexually harassed her, but she tore the script in annoyance and stormed out. She said that incident made her cry while on the way home, because she left a well paying job to join Nollywood at the time

She said; “I once met a producer in Surulere, and I expressed to him how much I would love to act. He told me he had an upcoming film, and invited me to his office for an audition. I passed three stages of the audition.

“After the last audition, I was given a minor role. I told him that was not the character I was auditioning for, and he replied that the director said he did not know me, and that was why he said I should be close to him (the producer)…”
