Again, kidnappers abduct Nigerian police inspector

A Police inspector, Emmanuel Yaro has been abducted by gunmen in Taraba state, making him the third to be kidnapped within six months.

The Taraba Police Command confirmed the abduction of the officer in the state, saying the incident happened on Sunday, October 22..

In a statement by Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Abdullahi Usman, Yaro, serving with the Kurmi division was waylaid on his farm.

According to Usman, on the day of the incident, the inspector had taken some workers to his farm in Gidan-Idi village of the area, before he was whisked away shortly after buying food for his workers.

“The inspector, on taking the workers to his farm, decided to go to a nearby village to buy food for them. Immediately he left, the kidnappers stormed his farm and held the workers hostage.

“Unknown to him, he came back and met the kidnappers who immediately released the workers and went away with the inspector,” Usman said.

The spokesperson said only the inspector was abducted, dismissing reports that a pastor, his wife, and six other persons were abducted in the state.

CorrectNG recalls that similar incidents involving police inspectors occurred earlier this year as one had been kidnapped in Lagos state in April while gunmen took another officer in August in Enugu state.
