AFCON: Super Eagles goalkeeper, Nwabali available to play against Angola

Super Eagles goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali is available for call up to the national team in the quarter-final match with Angola, Allnigeriasoccer reports.

There were fears that the Chippa United shot stopper would miss the Palancas Negras clash at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium, Abidjan after he was stretchered off the pitch in the second half of Nigeria’s 2-0 win over the Indomitable Lions.

According to Allnigeriasoccer, the ligament injury suffered by Nwabali was not that bad as the national team medics have given him the green light to appear in his fifth consecutive match at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Nwabali joined his teammates in training at the Ecole Nationale de la Police on Tuesday, January 30, and the signs were there that he had not suffered a significant injury.

CorrectNG reported earlier that Nwabali addressed the fears of football fans that his injury might prevent him from playing against Angola.

He took to his Twitter (X) page on January 31 to thank those who have been sending messages and he noted that as humans anything could happen to anybody.

The goalie said: “Thanks to everyone who checked up and showed disquiet in one way or the other at this strenuous time, I appreciate. We’re all human and anything is prone to happen. Onto the next one.”
