Thanks to social media, we get heads up on the latest happenings around the world and in our country. Given the importance of social influence, we took a closer look at the top seven personalities who are dominating social media and for what reason

7. Davido

David Adedeji Adeleke is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and record producer based in the city of Lagos. Davido rose to fame after the release of Dami Duro which was a hit. The musical legend who just welcomed a son with fiancée Chioma is always trending for both good and bad reasons. He recently dropped an album titled “a good time” which obviously is doing well, although some music critics still found a way to call the songs wack. Davido has been posting pictures and videos of himself lavishing money on drinks, golds etc. He also posted a video of him caressing the boob of Chioma and Nigerians weren’t feeling it at all.

6. Wizkid 

Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun also known as Wizkid is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. He started music at the young age of 11 and bagged a deal with EME in 2009. Wizkid and Tiwa Savage has been giving it hot to fans. The duo are always together and perform on stage together with Wizkid always caressing Tiwa’s bum. There are speculations that the two are a couple, although they still maintain their best friends title. 

5. Naira Marley 

2019 has been a crazy year for Naira. He was picked up by men of the EFCC and everyone was released except Naira. He been in and out of court as the case is still pending. This led to the release of his hit song “Soapy”. The Marlians are a strong and formidable force on Instagram. Just yesterday, Naira was accused of car theft as there is a claim that he stole a car. Musically Naira has been doing quite well for himself.

4. Tacha

Tacha has always wanted to be a big celebrity and getting picked to be a Season four Big Brother Naija Housemate was the highlight of her life. Since that journey, Tacha has never for a minute left the public eye. Tacha was called out by Nigerian relationship blogger but that didn’t sit well with her as she has taken action and sued relationship blogger, Blessing Okoro for defamation of character. Even though Tacha was disqualified from the live show, that didn’t stop her shine or her endorsement deals. 

3. Angela Okorie

Angela Okorie is a Nigerian actress who has been in the news for different reasons. She is nicknamed the clout chaser of Instagram. Angela Okorie announced via her Instagram page few days ago that she was attacked by assassins, with videos, pictures and x-ray photo to back up her claim. It is not clear who would want to take the actress’s life and the reason behind it.

2. Janemena

Nigerian Instagram twerker, Jane Mena, recently got married to the love of her life in a traditional wedding ceremony and as expected, she broke the internet following a video of her displaying her usual dance moves. Jane Mena also treated her husband to a lap dance, much to the surprise and excitement of guest who hailed them and sprayed money while she carried on with the sensual moves. This video has been shared over a million times across all social media platforms.

1. Omoyele Sowore

Omoyele Sowore is a Nigerian human rights activist, pro-democracy campaigner, former presidential candidate, and founder of an online news agency Sahara Reporters. He was arrested by the Nigerian Department of Security Services for alleged treason after calling for a protest tagged Revolution Now. Even after the court allegedly ordered his release DSS held on to Sowore. Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu of the Federal High Court in Abuja abruptly suspended sitting and fled her court on Friday as operatives of the Department of State Service invaded the courtroom to rearrests Sahara Reporters publisher, Omoyele Sowore, less than 24 hours of releasing him from earlier illegal custody. The commotion which paralyzed judicial activities in the court broke out on Friday as armed DSS operatives cocked their guns to rearrests Sowore just after the judge had adjourned his trial till February 2020.
