30-year-old graduate reportedly hangs self in village

Nerus Elemamba, a 30-year-old graduate of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri in Imo State, has reportedly committed svicide.

It was learnt that the young man’s body was found dangling in his room on Monday evening, in his hometown of Umuohii, Obaoma community, Ezinihitte-Mbaise Local government Area of the state.

Sources disclosed that Elemamba had participated in the village’s manual labour involving his peers before he retired to his home and hung himself.

The source told journalists the deceased did not show signs of depression before committing svicide, as he had been jovial while working with age mates.

“Elemamba actively participated in village activities and cracked jokes with his peers as usual. No one knows for sure what prompted him to take his own life because he participated in the village manual labour in the morning. It is quite surprising that Nerus, who was hale and hearty, could hang himself just few hours after work,” he said.

The source also said the incident has thrown the village into confusion and fear, as the cause of the graduate’s death must be unraveled before his funeral.
