28-year-old man charged to court for chasing neighbour with stone

The Ogun state police command have arraigned a 28-year-old man, Azeez Olaoye, for allegedly conducting himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace.

He appeared before an Ota Magistrates Court in Ogun State, on Wednesday, 12th of April, 2023.

The defendant was alleged to have chased the complainant, Muideen Azeez with a stone and threatened him by saying he would kill him.

Police arrested Olaoye and charged him with breach of peace, threat to life and malicious damage.

The Prosecutor, Inspector E.O. Adaraloye, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on April 2 at about 6.30 p.m. at Ilogno area, Ota.

Adaraloye said that the defendant also damaged three sliding windows valued at N70,000 (Seventy thousand Naira).

According to the prosecutor, the offences contravened Sections 86,249(d) and 451 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Mrs A.O.Adeyemi, admitted Olaoye to N200,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.

Adeyemi ordered that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to the Ogun Government.

She adjourned the case until June 22.
