2026 WCQ: We’re condemned to beat South Africa – Finidi George

Finidi George has said the Super Eagles knows the importance of coming out victorious in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixture against South Africa.

The highly anticipated encounter which will see both teams renew their rivalry is scheduled to hold at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium Uyo, Akwa Ibom state on Friday by 8pm.

Nigeria garnered just two points from their opening two games against Lesotho and Zimbabwe and need to beat South Africa to get their campaign back on track.

Speaking to reporters, Finidi admitted his team has put behind their clash at the 2023 AFCON semi final and are condemned to beat Bafana Bafana.

He said; “We’re prepared for the game. The players are focused, they have really worked hard to expect victory on Friday.

“We’ve put behind the AFCON clash in Ivory Coast. The AFCON and World Cup qualifiers are two different things. But overall, we’re condemned to win”.
