2023 showed me ‘shege’ – Wizkid

Nigerian Grammy winner, Ayodeji Balogun also known by his stage name, Wizkid has lamented about the tough times he experienced in 2023.

The Afrobeats singer in an Instastory post on Sunday, said last year showed him ‘shege’ and he prayed for 2024 to be better for him.

Wizkid’s revelation may not be unconnected to his mother’s death.It was reported earlier that Wizkid’s mother, Mrs. Jane Dolapo Balogun died on Friday, 18th of August 2023.

He wrote; “23 show me shege! 24 be good to me!.”

Earlier, the music executive, Wizkid opened up on how he’s been coping since he lost his mother in August. The family held a funeral service for her on October 12, which had a good number of friends and coworkers in attendance.

Speaking on life after her passing, the Starboy Entertainment founder admitted that life has become meaningless without her.

Wizkid, who was close to his dear mum added that sometimes it is good to let everything go, hence why he will move on regardless of how he feels.

The ‘Joro’ crooner wrote; “Made idk days after I lost my mum. Life’s been meaningless! But we dey. Sometimes you got to let everything go… Work with God.”
