17-year-old boy reportedly drinks poison after boss accused him of theft

A teenage apprentice identified as Ojibe Chibueze, has reportedly ended his life after being accused of stealing money from his boss.

The Lagos State Police Command’s spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the death of the 17-year-old boy on Wednesday.

Hundeyin informed the press that the deceased’s sister, Cynthia reported the case to the Elemoro Police Division on about 7:50 am on 13th of March.

The Police spokesperson said when the woman arrived at the station she narrated how Chibueze came back from work on Tuesday at about 8:00 pm, took some money and went out.

She was reported to have said that the teenage boy’s master later called to inform her that her brother allegedly stole N100,000 from his shop.

The woman added that her brother did not return home till she received a phone call from her neighbour, who said Chibueze was spotted lying lifeless at Abijo Bus Stop, Ajah, Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos.

She said she rushed to the scene and saw her brother’s body with a can of sniper beside him, which she presumed that he drank to death.

Hundeyin said; On the receipt of the report, detectives immediately moved to the scene and found the dead body with foam gushing out of his mouth and nostrils.

The can of sniper has been recovered as an exhibit. The corpse has been removed and deposited at Epe General Hospital Mortuary for autopsy and preservation.
