Why I switched from mimicking Davido to making proper skits – Nasboi

Popular Nigerian content creator, Lawal Michael Nasiru Bolaji, professionally known as Nasboi, has explained why he changed the style that gave him fame, which was mimicking music superstar, Davido.

The IG comedian, who used to be a musician recounted how he started his career as “Low Budget OBO”, who recreated Davido’s speaking pattern but had to switch to skit-making when there was a demand for proper skits.

Speaking during an episode of MTV Base Naija Top 10, he revealed that he was initially mimicking the DMW boss to get his attention and have a chance to showcase his musical talent to him.

Nasboi said; “I started off mimicking Davido. So, the plan was to get David’s attention for my music. I disturbed this guy till he invited me one day and I started playing my music.

“It [my mimics of Davido] started looking like cruise to everybody. So, I said, okay, let’s jump on it. That’s how I jumped on it and it started looking like it demanded for me to start making skits. So, I had no option than to make skits.”

In other news, skit-maker, Kemi Ikuseedun, also known as Kemz Mama, has said it does not make sense for women to expect their date to pay for their transport fare.

The actress gained prominence for playing the fictional wife of comedian, Mr Macaroni, fondly called Mummy Wa. She stated this during an interview when asked to share her two cents on whether a man should pay for a lady’s fare.

Mummy Wa, however, noted that there are guys who are comfortable with the gesture because they don’t want to stress the girl. The skitmaker added that she does think she will allow her date handle the cost of her transportation

Kemz said; I don’t think men should pay for a date’s transport fare. It does not make sense to me. However, there are some men who might not want to stress the girl. But, that is just them trying to be gentlemen, or perhaps they feel the lady does not have enough money, and they want to help out.

The lady might be stranded, and in such cases, the guy can offer to pay for her fare. As for me though, I don’t think I can allow a guy pay for my transport fare on a date.

Speaking on her personal relationship, she as said that it is impossible for her to love two men at the same time.

She said that if it were platonic friendship, she could love multiple people at once, but when it involves romantic relationship, then she can only love one person more at a time.

Kemz Mama said; If it’s a friendship thing, it is possible. But, if it is romantic, I don’t think it is possible. One will definitely love one more than the other. I cannot love two people at the same time.

If I love one person romantically, my mind will always be with that person. I will always think about that person. It will be very hard for me to think of someone else.
