Since yesterday morning, you would have been seeing reports of a Lagos school collapsed building. The collapsed building is a three storey which had a school at the last floor and residential apartments in other floors.

President Muhammadu Buhari has now reacted to the incident which took place in Ita-Faji Lagos Island on Wednesday morning.

In a statement released on Twitter, President Buhari expressed sadness at the news and charged the Lagos State government to do everything needed to avert a reoccurrence.

He tweeted:

“I’m extremely saddened by the news of the collapsed building in Itafaaji area of Lagos. It touches one to lose precious lives in any kind of mishap, particularly those so young and tender. May God grant everyone affected by this sad incident fortitude and succour.

I charge the Lagos State Government to do all that is needful, so that such tragic developments do not recur.”

However, rescue works has been on the site since yesterday. Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), as well as other security agencies immediately rushed down to the site after the collapse to rescue victims.
