Nwabali replaced Francis Uzoho as the first-choice goalkeeper despite having only one cap for the Nigerian national team prior to the AFCON.

The 27-year-old who granted an interview on Arise News about his future, said people have been telling him to move to Europe or bigger clubs.

Nwabali kept four clean sheets at the AFCON tournament, saving two penalties in the semi-final against South Africa.

He said; “People have been sending messages like they want me to move to Europe or they want me to move to a bigger club. I really appreciate that, but to be honest, one thing about me is that I always feel comfortable, even if I’m in a small place; I don’t like to rush”.

In another sports news…

Super Eagles striker, Sadiq Umar, has put up a resistance to football fans trolling him over Nigeria’s defeat to Cote d’Ivoire in the 2023 AFCON finals.

Sadiq reminded everyone that he did not play in the just concluded tournament yet people are flooding his social media page to attack him.

CorrectNG recalls that he was called up by coach Jose Peseiro as part of Nigeria’s squad, but the medical team ruled him out due to an injury.

Reacting to backlash through his Snapchat account, the 27-year-old said he is not like his teammate, Alex Iwobi whom many people felt comfortable bullying on social media.

The Real Sociedad star said he will insult the parents of anybody that rains insults on him as he is not someone who would allow anybody to push him into depression or mental breakdown.

Sadiq said; “I no even play even play you con dey insult me Abeg oo. Me I no be Iwobi I go insult person papa with him mama join. Yes I be dat topical Hausa boy Abi u see fear for my eyes. Pushing someone into depression & mental breakdown. Yet you want life to be better for you, e no fit ever better for una! Vagabonds!!!!”
