You have PhD – Student in disbelief as he meets his Nigerian lecturer in his MSc class in Canada

A young man who traveled to Canada to for his Masters degree programme was left surprised after meeting his Nigerian lecturer in class.

The young man’s father who narrated the event to a famous Twitter user, said his son could not believe it that his lecturer was going for an MSc abroad because he already has a PhD from a university in Nigeria.

According to him, the professor told his student not to address him as ‘sir’ whenever they meet in the Canadian university.

The message reads; “Hi, My son was surprised to find his young lecturer who already had a PhD in Nigeria in his MSc class in Canada. He was instructed to stop the ‘sir’ he was used to in Nigeria.”

A young man who works in the United States has recounted the unfavourable experience that made him decide to leave the shores of Nigeria.

According to the Physicist known as Samuel Ajayi, he graduated with a first class degree and went on to get distinction in Master’s however, he struggled to get a lecturing job.

He said that he decided to go and do his PhD in Nuclear Physics abroad because no Nigerian university was interested in giving him a job as a lecturer.

In his words; “Left for my PhD in Nuclear Physics. Couldn’t get a lecturing job in Nigerian Universities with my first class Bsc and distinction Msc in Physics.

Interestingly, my BSc advisor in Nigeria told me after my MSc that if it was in the old good days, with my results, I would have an office waiting for me in the department”.

Reacting, @TheHavilah_ wrote; This one irks me! A friend had a 3rd class B.Sc. Polished himself up, got 2 PGDs, an M.Sc, an M.Phil and had begun his PhD, only for a much older professor to trash his application coz “you didn’t have first class in B.Sc”

@Samuel_facto; An your relative left for the USA in less than 2 weeks he got a Teaching assistant job with his department of study, he has graduated since 2017 no job, nothing.
