My wife and I were at home when I was informed about my Grammy nominations – Davido

International Afrobeats singer, David “Davido” Adeleke, has revealed where he was at the time that he received news of bagging Grammy nominations.

The ‘FEM’ crooner who featured in a four-question Question and Answer session with his manager, Asa Asika before the 66th Grammy Awards, said he was spending quality time with his wife when the news broke.

Davido got a total of three nominations in the 66th Grammys, second to self acclaimed African Giant, Burna Boy with four nominations.

OBO was asked; “Where were you when you learned you were nominated?”

In response, Davido said he was at home with his partner Chioma Avril Rowland aka Chef Chi, where he had breakfast and later went to shower in the restroom.

He went on to say that Chioma was the first person he contacted after which he told his friends and coleagues, then he informed his fans of the development online.

Davido’s fourth studio album, ‘Timeless’ was nominated in the Best Global Music Album category. While ‘Unavailable’ was nominated in the Best African Music Performance.

The singer’s melodious tune, ‘Feel’ got the final nomination under the Best Global Music Performance category.

He will contest with his compatriot, Burna Boy and Arooj Aftab, Silvana Estrada, Béla Fleck, Falu and Gaurav Shah for the Best Global Music Performance gong.

He would also lock horns with Burna Boy, Susana Baca, Shakti, and Bokante in the Best Global Music Album category.

In the Best African Music Performance category, he will face off with familiar names – Asake, Ayra Starr, Burna Boy and South Africa’s Tyla.
