According to him, the domestic awards are allegedly compromised and it is evident in the reality that they win awards in the country despite being able to sing and perform better than them.

Portable said; “My ultimate goal in the music industry is to win a Grammy. I will only feel accomplished if I win a Grammy. I want to win the African category.

“I want to win an international award because our local awards are compromised. I sing better than most of my colleagues. A lot of them use autotune. They can’t perform with live band or sing good music. They can’t make conscious music.”

Similarly, CorrectNG reported that ace Nigerian singer, Divine Ikubor professionally known as Rema vowed to win a Grammy award earlier this year.

The ‘Calm Down’ crooner gave the assurance during a courtesy visit to Nigerian business mogul, Tony Elumelu’s multi-million-naira mansion.

Rema was warmly received by the Elumelu family and during discussions with the UBA Chairperson, he promised to bring home a Grammy award, despite not being nominated in 2023/2024 edition.

In a video making the rounds online, the Mavin Records act could be seen meeting the billionaire’s wife and twin sons, who he posed for a photo with. Apart from his hefty vow, the singer presented Tony Elumelu with an exclusive album copy and his merchandise (Air Rema).

The singer also expressed gratitude for the businessman’s significant impact and support in the music industry, emphasizing the importance of his contributions to him personally.

Rema said; “Thank you for what you have done and the support you have for the music industry. I am grateful, it means a lot to me. This year I am bringing the Grammy”.
