Man arrested for allegedly stealing 200 bags of cement

A 28-year-old man identified as Hammed Waheed, has been arrested by the Oyo state police for allegedly stealing 200 bags of cement.

Police arraigned the suspect on Thursday, March 7 at the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, on the charge of conspiracy and theft.

The Prosecutor, Philip Amusan, explained that Waheed and others, at large, stole the bags of cement belonging to one Tunrayo Adeogun. He said they committed the offense on February 21, at 11:30 am, at Oke-Ado area, Ibadan.

According to Amusan, the offense violated the provisions of Sections 516 and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000. The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Magistrate, Olasinmibo Sanusi-Zubair, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N300,000 with two reliable sureties in like sum. She adjourned the case until March 20.

A middle-aged Ghanaian woman has allegedly been caught stealing at a market in Takoradi and questioned over her disappointing action.

It was gathered that when she was apprehended stealing food stuff, her husband was alerted and he rushed down to the market. The husband was said to have felt embarrassed when he reached and saw how his wife was being interrogated.

He pleaded on her behalf because they wanted to take her to the police station and he promised to handle the matter himself. A video which went viral showed her being reprimanded for doing such at her age and she wore a face of shame.

The suspect was teary-eyed and pleaded her case while people asked her if they are lacking food at home or if she did it for some other reason.
