I’m loyal to Akeredolu even in death – Ondo Governor’s Special Adviser resigns

Dare Aragbaiye, Special Adviser to the Ondo State Governor on Union Matters has resigned.

He tendered his resignation on Wednesday afternoon in a letter addressed to the Ondo State Governor’s office, a few hours after news broke of the death of Rotimi Akeredolu.

Aragbaiye wrote in part: “My decision is based on the unfortunate death of my principal, whom I am loyal to even in death.

“I sincerely thank His Excellency for the opportunity granted me to serve in his administration as a member of the State Executive Council, first as Head of Service and now as Special Adviser.”

It was reported earlier that Akeredolu died after a prolonged battle with leukemia. A family source revealed on Wednesday that Akeredolu died in Lagos state.

It was learnt that the governor was managed by State House doctors up to his death because they could not fly him abroad.

“Akeredolu is dead; he died in Lagos. They were looking for dialysis machines to be sent to his secret location in Lagos last week,” the source said.

It may be recalled that the ailing governor returned to Nigeria in September following a three-month medical leave in Germany. He then proceeded on another over a week ago and was directed by President Bola Tinubu to hand over power to his deputy.

Akederedolu’s deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa has been sworn in as governor.
