He’s not world class – Aiyegbeni omits Salah from ‘Best African players’

Former Nigeria international, Yakubu Aiyegbeni, has claimed that Liverpool winger Mohammed Salah is not a world class player.

He stated this while listing his best African players on talkSport. Aiyegbeni ranks fifth on the list of African footballers with the most Premier League goals. Salah is ahead of the Nigerian with 154 goals in 252 appearances.

However, Aiyegbeni listed players like Cote d’Ivoire’s Didier Drogba, Yaya Toure, ex-Super Eagles star, Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha and Senegal’s Sadio Mane as better than Salah.

“Salah is not world-class in my opinion. He is not good with the ball, and the majority of his goals are lucky goals.

“The greatest African players in the Premier League are Okocha, Drogba, Kanu, Yaya Toure, Emmanuel Adebayor and Sadio Mane,” Yakubu said.

Former Real Madrid and Liverpool star, Steve McManaman recently stated that Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen is certainly not playing like a footballer worth £100million at the moment.

McManaman alo explained on TNT Sports why he thinks the 25-year-old is destined to play in the Premier League as from next season.

Osimhen will leave Napoli at the end of the season. The Nigeria international has been linked with Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.

Speaking after the Napoli and Barcelona Champions League game, McManaman said Spanish clubs don’t have the funds to take the Napoli star and his best bet is with Premier League teams.

The ex-English player said: “His sellable value, it has to be the Premier League because Germany of course have not got the finances. The big teams in Spain have not got the finances, particularly if Real Madrid take Mbappe.

“The only place he can go is the Premier League and he is certainly not playing like a £100 million player and that is what they want for him.”
